"I don’t feel that I’m any kind of hero. To me, the work had to be done. I was asked to do it. So I did. When I lecture kids, I tell them the same thing." – Private First Class Joe Lesniewski
Yesterday was the anniversary of the D Day invasion.
This quote sums up nicely what so many from that generation would go on to say after World War II – I was just doing my job.
They chose to attempt something difficult – for reasons they believed in – and stuck with it until the end.
It was horrible along the way. People died. People survived but were never the same. People watched loves ones die.
And they kept moving forward. Because it was their job. It was their responsibility. They didn’t shrink from the moment but stepped into it and played their part.
We should do the same.
Make it a great day.
Jake
