The Phrase That Pays

JD – Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week. – Spanish Proverb

MS – As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man. – Proverbs 27:19

EB – It’s not about perfection, it’s more about progress.

JW – Am I the ______________ I vowed/promised I would be? You fill in the blank and ask yourself.

Jamie shared the challenging question above.

Fill in the blank and be honest with yourself.

But then I think the real key is your reaction from there.

If you’ve fallen short, will you wallow in self-pity and guilt, armed with another excuse for not doing your best?

Or will you step up and do your best?

It’s one thing to fall short of our goals and ideals while doing our best. It’s quite another to fall short while uttering flimsy excuses and looking for an out.

One more thought about this. Fill it in with something important.

“Am I the TV watcher I vowed/promised I would be?” Is not as powerful as “Am I the father I vowed/promised I would be?”

Ask yourself the meaningful questions if you want your life to have meaning.

Make it a great day.

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough. – Rabindranath Tagore

We always seem to be running out of time or to busy to do that thing we really wanted to get started.

What if we started counting the moments?

What if we were more careful what we did with our moments?

What if we made the most of our moments?

Enjoy your moments today.

Make it a great day.

To avoid situations in which you might make mistakes may be the biggest mistake of all. – Peter McWilliams

Today’s email is merely a short reminder.

You can’t sit on the sidelines of life.

You have to get in and play.

Sure, you will make some mistakes, but the only way to win is to play.

And the only thing worse than losing is not playing at all.

Make it a great day.

The Phrase that Pays

JD* – I miss Jamie, Mike & Erik.

MS – He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. -Ecclesiastes 3:11

EB – I’m excited about being so excited! – EB

JW – Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34

The verse Jamie shared from Matthew is such a good tip for all of us that worry a little too much.

In Dale Carnegie’s “How to Stop Worrying” he calls it living in “day-tight” compartments.

Bringing tomorrow’s worries into today is a sure fire way to waste some of your energy expended today.

The hardest part is starting new thought patterns.

My opinion is that the easiest way is to replace the old with new.

Instead of worrying about tomorrow, be thankful for today.

Instead of fear of the unknown, be curious about all the possibilities.

Instead of tomorrow’s problems crushing today’s possibility, let your vision of the future pull you through today.

Think positive and be present.

Make it a great day.

Having kids is a unique experience.

Some moments you feel so young. And some moments you feel so old.

A piece of advice once given to me was to make sure and spend some time each week with someone under 5 (and someone over 70).

It hasn’t been that hard for me to accomplish since we have some little kids living at our house (although they are getting on past 5….).

If I can keep a good attitude about it, they sure do teach me a lot.

Simple things, like:

It’s fun to run fast.

It’s fun to make funny noises.

It’s fun to play outside.

It’s fun to be silly.

Make it a point today to do something you would have only done when you were younger.

Make it a great day.

"To create more positive results in your life, replace ‘if only’ with ‘next time’." — Author Unknown

Imagine doing this in your life.

Instead of fretting or worrying about all of the ways things didn’t go your way or that you fell short, you thought about all the ways you were going to make it different next time.

Think about something you have failed at in the past.

Now think about what you can do different this time.

And then get started. Keep thinking “next time” every time you stumble.

Make it a great day.

The most wasted day of all is that on which we have not laughed. – Nicolas Chamfort

What a great reminder to make sure and laugh every day.

As you would expect, this is another area of life where it is even better to give than to receive.

Make someone laugh today.

Make an effort to brighten someone else’s day with a joke or a funny story (or I guess you could fall down or get injured in some way, but I wouldn’t recommend that).

Make it a great day.

Yesterday was a big training day for our two newest Mavidea sales reps.

As I was thinking about what success would look like for them, it added up in my mind. I figured “success” would take approximately 12,500 calls.

There are two ways to look at that:

1. That’s too many, why even start.

2. That sure is a lot, I better get started.

Are any of the goals on your list like this?

It seems so big, so you don’t even get started.

That’s too much weight to lose.

That’s too much money to save.

That’s too much time to invest.

Each day is an opportunity to move towards success. To decide that we are going to move forward despite the many steps we still have to go.

Take some steps forward today.

Make it a great day.

What worries you masters you. – John Locke

What a powerful and simple thought.

Think about worries you; now think of that thing as your master.

Any time that worries pops up, think of this short little quote and begin to change your thought patterns.

Create a new master.

Genrosity, courage, love, kindness. Let these thoughts master you and your actions.

Make it a great day.
