"If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment." – Marcus Aurelius

This is a great way to look at the stresses and worries of our lives.

All too often we give external forces power over our lives.

We let our lives seep away with worry and stress over events and circumstances external to our control.

Our power lies in what we choose to focus on.

Our days turn on what we choose to let dominate our thoughts.

What came to mind when you first read the quote?

What have you given power that you should revoke?

Let go of whatever it is. Let positivity, hope and faith rule your thoughts today.

Make it a great day.

Great message in this clip – Jesus won.

Life is not fair.

Bad stuff happens.

People are mean and hurtful.

Someone is actively trying to rip us off.

But Jesus won. If you choose it – you can participate in that victory. He (and me too) really, really wants you to be part of the victory.

Make it a great day.

“I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; I have also learned from experience that the greater the part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances” – Martha Washington

Dispositions and circumstances. This seems to be a recurring theme throughout all of the “positive propaganda” I have read.

Our disposition and attitude determine our happiness, not our circumstances.

I think it is a recurring theme because it is something most of us struggle with. We struggle with the balance between facing the reality of our situation and whining and complaining about it.

And that is why I think we all need reminders. We have the opportunity every day to put on a positive disposition no matter the circumstances.

Let’s take advantage of that opportunity today.

Make it a great day.

One of my favorite simple ideas for a better life is to smile – a lot. Like all the time.

This song/video is a funny, catchy reminder that even when life is hard we can choose to smile.

Life hasn’t been easy so far this year for many of us.

It hasn’t gone the way we would have wanted.

It’s been hard and upsetting and scary.

We can still smile.

“I know God is working so I smile”…..that’s my favorite line from the song and something I try to remind myself of constantly this year.

Hopefully you can find a smile today.

Make it a great day.

If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one. – Mother Teresa

Andy Stanley says it like this – do for one what you would like to do for all.

We all see things we would like to be changed in this world.

Broken homes, hungry children, lonely shut ins, the list goes on and on.

It all seems so daunting when you look at all of it at once.

But if you focus on what’s in front of you, it’s not that bad.

Focus on the family and friends around you.

Help the local charity that could use a few extra dollars.

You don’t have to look far to find someone in need.

I’m convinced that the world really would become a much better place if we could just figure out how to be kind to those we interact with daily.

Do something small to help today.

Make it a great day.

Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. – Mother Teresa

Small gestures matter.

So much of human communication is body language.

What are you saying?

What is being heard?

A smile seems like a good bet to have better interactions with the people around us.

Not every day is a smile kind of day. But maybe smiling more might help a little?

Make it a great day.

Care and diligence bring luck. – Thomas Fuller

Jim Rohn talks about discipline being the magic key that unlocks life’s virtues.

When we are disciplined – things are more likely to go our way.

Not every time.

No guarantees.

But probably.

Most of the time.

Make it a great day.
