The best place to find God is in a garden. You can dig for him there. – George Bernard Shaw

The Bible tells us that if we knock, we will find.

So many examples like this one about gardening surround us.

We hear about others who find God in their hobby or reading or some other pursuit.

The most important part is the seeking.

God will meet you there.

Make it a great day.

“the best possible way to prepare for tomorrow is to concentrate with all your intelligence, all your enthusiasm, on doing today’s work superbly today. That is the only possible way you can prepare for the future.” – Dale Carnegie, How to Stop Worrying and Start Living: Time-Tested Methods for Conquering Worry

Great reminder on a Monday morning – doing our best today is the surest path forward.

When we give today our best – it distracts us from the worries and anxieties of the future.

It also increases the likelihood that the future is actually better.

What would this look like for you today?

A short, prioritized list of to dos that would make the most impact?

A journal entry of gratitude and appreciation for the gifts of today?

Increased focus on the task at hand?

Seeing today’s problems through to completion instead of letting them flow into tomorrow?

Make it a great day.

Genius is more often found in a cracked pot than in a whole one. – E. B. White

This goofy quote is a reminder that we are imperfect and that part of our special offering to this world is our imperfections.

It’s easy to wish away our imperfections.

To hide them in a corner and protect ourselves from judgement and ridicule.

Some (not all) of them are meant to be shared. To be used in a creative way to aid others in their journey.

Wisdom is required here. If your imperfection is that you are a jerk – you should probably stop doing that.

Make it a great day.

It is easier to prevent bad habits than to break them. – Benjamin Franklin

What a great, simple shortcut for life.

Skip the bad habits.

Avoid them like the plague.

Don’t got anywhere near them.

Make it a great day.

“I wish I had never been born," she said. "What are we born for?" "For infinite happiness," said the Spirit. "You can step out into it at any moment…” – C.S. Lewis, The Great Divorce

I’ve been reading this book again and it’s as challenging as the first time.

The basic premise of the book is that the spirits of deceased people are faced with the decision to let go of the thing that is keeping them out of heaven.

The person in the quote above is literally being kept out of endless joy because they can’t believe that is what they were created for.

Something I think of often is how easy it is to get confused.

To think something is true that isn’t.

To believe a lie.

To accept a reality that isn’t true AND isn’t helpful.

We get wrapped up in ourselves and our story. We focus on the trivial and menial.

What if something better was available? That we might be able to step out into it at any moment.

Make it a great day.

Whatever you do, work heartily as if for the Lord. – Colossians 3:23

Great reminder for the week.

Work hard. As if your work matters. To God.

Because it does.

Let’s get to it!

Make it a great day.

“I’m bout to have a good day, in every single way.”

Saw this the other day and couldn’t help but smile.

Simple idea to brighten up your day.

Listen to something positive and upbeat.

Smile.

Have a little fun with it.

Make it a great day.

“Today is an ephemeral ghost…

A strange amazing day that comes only once every four years. For the rest of the time it does not "exist."

In mundane terms, it marks a "leap" in time, when the calendar is adjusted to make up for extra seconds accumulated over the preceding three years due to the rotation of the earth. A day of temporal tune up!

But this day holds another secret—it contains one of those truly rare moments of delightful transience and light uncertainty that only exist on the razor edge of things, along a buzzing plane of quantum probability…

A day of unlocked potential.

Will you or won’t you? Should you or shouldn’t you?

Use this day to do something daring, extraordinary and unlike yourself. Take a chance and shape a different pattern in your personal cloud of probability!”

― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration

Found this little bit about leap day.

You found an extra day – what are you going to do with it?

Make it a great day.

A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition. – William Arthur Ward

(Think of Annie singing “The Sun Will Come Out”)

Spring time brings sunny days, but it also brings cloudy and rainy ones too.

We get to choose our disposition during both.

We can choose to be grateful.

We can choose to be joyful.

We can choose to love.

Or we can choose bitterness, complaining and selfishness.

It’s not easy. If it was easy, we’d all be perfect at it.

But it’s worth the work.

Make it a great day.
