I like this message – no one’s coming.

You will have to take responsibility for going from where you are today to where you want to be in the future.

It isn’t going to be easy and you’re not going to want to do it (sometimes), but it’ll be worth it.

Make it a great day.

Jake

Bonus point for those of us who are Christians. God will meet you along the way. Jim Rohn says “we take human steps, God takes God sized steps”. Meaning He will takes steps towards you if you take steps towards Him. Fortunately His are much bigger. He just can’t do it for you, that’s not how this works (I can’t wait to ask Him why).

There’s a difference between a philosophy and a bumper sticker. – Charles M. Schulz

We each have the opportunity to cultivate and build our own personal philosophy.

We can build a perspective on life that is set up to get where we want to go.

What we believe to be true guides our thoughts and actions.

If someone where to ask you for your personal philosophy, how would you describe it?

How would answer life’s biggest questions?

How would set your priorities and goals?

Make it a great day.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

I try to think of this verse every day.

The point of this verse is that if you have filled yourself with the Spirit you will then bear this fruit.

It bears repeating – when we are filled with a proper attitude our live will be characterized by the following: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Would those who know you best describe you like that?

Make it a great day.

Courage, dear heart. – CS Lewis, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

This is one of my favorite lines from the Narnia books.

To set the scene a little, this line comes in when they are on the island of nightmares and everyone is facing their worst fears. One of the main characters hears this as a whisper in her ear.

It made me think just how powerful three words could be.

Imagine this the next time you are troubled, worried or things just aren’t going your way: a whisper in your ear that simply says "courage, dear heart."

Make it a great day.

"It’s never crowded along the extra mile." – Wayne Dyer

We feel a tremendous pressure to “fit in” and “be normal”.

We fall into the trap of “doing what everyone else is doing” only to find ourselves disappointed.

We try to be like “most people”.

Only to find out that:

“Most people” are overweight.

“Most people” are in debt.

“Most people” hate their job.

“Most people” are ruled by their stuff.

It’s taken me a long time to realize this, but I don’t want to be like “most people”.

And I don’t think you should either.

What is something you could start doing today to move away from trying to be like “most people”? What’s a small, positive step away from the crowd that makes sense for you?

Make it a great day.

Jake

Friendly warning – “most people” also don’t want to get hit by a bus. Some wisdom and discernment must be applied when going against the grain. I know….it’s tricky, but I think you can figure it out
