On Saturday Maggie and I got up early and drove to Indiana to watch Uncle Bill and Alex run the Spartan Beast Ultimate Obstacle Course Challenge Extravaganza.
The day was filled with watching people of every possible shape, size, age, color, height, fashion choice, etc. put themselves through a series of crazy obstacles (32) spread out over 13ish miles.
I think I started the day impressed with the runners, but a part of me thought they might be a little weird.
I mean, seriously, who gets up and thinks that physically torturing yourself for 4-6 hours sounds like a good idea?
But something happens after you hang around for a while. You start to think that maybe they aren’t that weird. Maybe this might be fun? Maybe challenging myself physically in a meaningful way would be good for me?
Luckily for me, I got out of there before doing anything too crazy.
It got me thinking though. What if you hung out with people like that all the time?
People who think exercise is a fun and good thing.
People who eat right.
People who purposefully seek out challenges in their lives to foster growth and personnel development.
You might end up a little weird.
Make it a great day.
Jake
